WELCOME TO PHYSIO AND WELLNESS

Physio and Wellness was established in 2012 with a mission to provide quality and affordable health and wellness services.

Our practice offers occupational health, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and wellness services to individual patients and industrial organizations; mining operations, manufacturing plants, and corporates.

We also offer Back and Neck Program; a rehabilitation program funded by your medical scheme, to provide you or your registered dependants with appropriate treatment to manage your back and neck pain. Positive outcomes include improved flexibility, as well as reduced pain and stiffness, leading to a more productive life.

Benefits for this program do not come out of your day-to-day medical savings, they come from a different benefit of your medical scheme known as the “risk benefit” which you can take advantage of, and you do not need to deplete your medical savings, or pay out of your pocket.

The focus of the program is on functional rehabilitation with the major components being controlled exercises, biopsychosocial support, and pain education and management. Clinical measurements are recorded and then used to evaluate the progress of treatment over time.

Physio and Wellness currently exist in Midrand, Sandton, and Giyani

Our team consists of Occupational Doctors, Occupational Nurses, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Optometrists, Speech Therapists, Biokineticist, Social Workers and Dieticians.

Our health practitioners are registered with relevant professional bodies and are supported by a team of professional and experienced administrators.

We are affiliated with most Medical Aids, including the Workman’s Compensation Act (WCA), Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA) and Road Accident Fund (RAF).

It is our responsibility to ensure that you remain healthy, pain free and active, and at all times, and you return to your best level of physical and occupational fitness as soon as possible.

MEET THE TEAM

Ephraim Tloubatla

Ephraim Tloubatla

Managing Director

Bsc.Physio(MEDUNSA),PGDipM(Wits), MBA(Wits)

Ephraim is a registered Physiotherapist in private practice. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Wits Business School. His company, Physio and Wellness provides health and wellness services to the industrial sector, mostly focused on mining. These services entail the provision of physiotherapy, rehabilitation, health consulting, occupational health, and wellness services to industrial workers following an injury or illness. The goal is for workers to return to the same job function as soon as possible.

He began his professinoal career at Nkhensani Hospital (Giyani, Limpopo) in 2008 as a Community Service Physiotherapist. In 2012, after gaining sizable clinical and managerial work experience, he progressed to establish Physio and Wellness.

In 2015 and 2017, respectively, he went on to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PDM) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the Wits Business School, and in the same period, worked and gained extensive management consulting experience at one of the big four global auditing firms: Ernst and Young (EY).

As a healthcare consultant in the South African industrial sector, he observed that most companies do not have Return to work (RTW) programs, that is, specific programs that ensures the early return to work of their workers following an injury or illness. They mainly rely on healthcare practitioners through the provision of sick leaves and medical treatment.

Return to work programs, true to their name, are a set of protocols and guidelines to help injured workers reintegrate into their employment position after they have taken time off due to injury or illness. They are written plans designed to outline the requirements of an injured and/or unwell employee returning to work. Ephraim has built a strong knowledge base around business principles and work ethic. His ability to work well in a team has been demonstrated in several group projects.
