BACK AND NECK PROGRAM

Most medical schemes now offer you a back and neck rehabilitation program that provides you or your registered dependants with appropriate treatment to manage your back and neck pain. Positive outcomes include improved flexibility, as well as reduced pain and stiffness, leading to a more productive life.

Benefits for this program do not come out of your day-to-day medical savings, they come from a different benefit portion known as the “risk benefit” which you can take advantage of, and you do not need to deplete your medical savings, or pay out of your pocket.

The intervention entails:

$
A comprehensive initial assessment and ongoing assessments.
$
Based on your risk profile identified during the assessment, – a tailored treatment program ranging from 1 to 12 active treatment sessions.
$
Physiotherapy for pain management and muscle relaxation.
$
A progress assessment with the programme doctor.
$
A comprehensive outcome assessment to assess progress and measure improvement over the course of the program.
$
Tailored home-based exercises and stretches to ensure results are maintained in the long term.
$
Follow up visits to track improvement following the completion of the program.

How the programme works:

$
Members who are identified for or referred to the programme, will be contacted by the scheme and a short questionnaire will be completed.
$
Members will be referred to the nearest physiotherapy centre and appointments will be managed by the centre.
$
The centre will perform an assessment that will determine the treatment. Treatment will need to be completed for the member to benefit from the program.

What benefits will be used?

$
The Chronic Back and Neck Program benefit will be used for members receiving treatment at the centres. This is not paid from your day-to-day benefits.

How can you access the programme?

$
If you have been struggling from neck or/and back pain for more than 3 months, and this has affected some activities of your daily living, you need to contact your medical scheme and request more information about the program.

You can also contact us and we will provide you with more information regarding the program and the application process.
